Remembering Kabosu: The Globally Famous Shiba Inu

Hey everyone, today we’re going to talk about a special internet celebrity – Kabosu, a Shiba Inu that brought joy to many. Even though Kabosu has passed away, its story and smile continue to warm people’s hearts.

Kabosu was born in Japan in 2005 as a cute little puppy with a round face. Unfortunately, the purebred dog breeding facility where it was born soon closed down, and Kabosu, along with other puppies, was sent to an animal shelter. There, it met its savior, Ms. Atsuko Sato, who fell in love with its round face and cute appearance and decided to adopt it.

Ms. Sato showered Kabosu with love and introduced it to two feline friends. She also named it Kabosu, which translates to “Kabosu orange” in Japanese. Kabosu loved being in front of the camera, and Ms. Sato began documenting their daily walks and adventures on a blog called “Walking with Kabosu-chan”.

On February 13, 2010, a photo of Kabosu went viral on the internet. In the picture, Kabosu is seen with its paws crossed, slightly turning its head to the camera with a hint of sarcasm in its smile, making people burst into laughter. This photo was later turned into a meme by a Reddit user and quickly gained popularity, making Kabosu a recognized internet celebrity worldwide.
